New Moon in Sagittarius (December 1, 2024)

Happy New Moon in Sagittarius! New moons are a time to slow down, find silence, and prepare for new beginnings. With this new moon falling right after a big holiday, slowing down might seem impossible. When quiet seems hard to find, however, we need it most.

            Many of us need quiet right now because all the holiday madness can disrupt our nervous system. Some of us live for the holidays, some of us dread the holidays, and some of us fall somewhere in between. Wherever you fall, the Sagittarian new moon gives us an invitation to figure out how to lean into joy, and not lose yourself in the chaos.

            For the next month or so, many of us have busy calendars. If you are the holiday “magic maker” in your family, you may be especially overwhelmed. Take five minutes after reading this blog, and ask yourself how you can minimize stress this holiday season, so that you can incorporate as much love, laughter, and joy as possible.

            For others, the holiday season may look different. Maybe you have leaned into nontraditional ways of living. Maybe you have severed unhealthy familial ties. Having a nontraditional holiday approach may bring you relief, or maybe you have some sort of longing for holiday gatherings that just can’t be part of your life anymore. If you fall more into this category, I also invite you to take five minutes after reading this blog post to consider how you are creating your own warm, loving home within yourself, no matter the season.

            Finally, maybe you need this ceremonial new moon to give yourself permission to not lose sight of whatever goal you are working towards. At times, the holiday season can serve as a distraction from an endeavor you had been focused on previously. I invite you to take time on this new moon to consider how you can enjoy the holiday season, but still pour energy into your dreams and goals.

            Ultimately, however you are feeling on this new moon, I send you joy and peace. May the fresh start of this lunar cycle allow you to be your best self.
